Where There Is Smoke

Yesterday I spent some quality time at my two favorite places M.A.C. Pro and Sephora. I saw the new Nars display last week at Nordstrom's and Sephora's mailer had a look featuring the Brumes duo. I just had one thing to say, sold!!!!!lol I also heard how awesome the M.A.C Makeup Artists collection was going to be. After several lackluster collections prior to Colour Craft I was not giddy about it. However I was curious so I looked it up online; and I saw some things I need in my life. In person the colors are really bright and gorgeous. I did a look with them and someone who loved it approached me to book me. I will recreate the look later. The only thing that I think they could have improved on was debuting at the beginning of the summer as opposed to the end. The colors are super bright and people typically wear bright colors in the summer because they are tan etc. Nars was right on by putting out darker colors because in the Fall people tend to wear darker hair and makeup colors. For today's look I used colors from both the new Nars and Mac collections.

Deck The Hauls

Anyone who is my friend on Myspace knows I couldn't wait to buy Barbie loves Stila. I saw several youtube tutorials that made me want to check it out. I know it came out within the last few weeks but I was unable to find it at Ulta. I will have to try Sephora. While scanning my Ulta ad I noticed the "Ulta" mate Stila set for $40.00. This is a really good deal considering , one Stila shadow runs $18.00. The set includes four eyeshadows as follows: Kitten, Golightly, Wheat and Mystic. A convertible color in Peony. It's best selling tinted moisturizer, major lash mascara in black and a lip glaze in "Ulta" mate pink an Ulta exclusive. It has been several years since I have purchased Stila eyeshadow. I liked the color in the past but not it's staying power. I have however purchsed several quality shadow bases that I will be trying underneath it. I will keep you posted on how it works for me. I am however a fan of their lipglazes.

I have also seen several product reviews on L'OREAL De-Crease and every youtube guru swears by Urban Decay Primer Potion. I recently came across a review where someone used both these products and then no base and they made the colors look so much more vibrant. The most vibrant by far was the one with UDPP underneath but it is always good to have a cheaper version if it works well because UDPP runs $16.00 and De-Crease was half that at $8.00. While browsing my Ulta ad I also noticed that Urban Decay has developed a new Cream shadow and the colors are super vibrant. The ad claims it does not crease or flake so I will try this out. The most vibrant in my opinion is an emerald money green called Grass so that is the one I purchased. I also purchased a Stila shadow in Diamond Lil. Two of my idols are Sam Fime and Iman. I know he rountinely made up Imans eyes using the Stila color Twig (the old Twig). It was a shimmery Sienna color it is currently a shimmery Garnet color (I hate it). But Diamond Lil was the closest I have found to it and I figured it would look good with the colors in the Mate set. I also picked up a H.I.P. eye crayon in black ( I have been wanting it forever). Ulta is apparently following Sephora's lead and giving out free items after you get so many points on your Ulta card (I don't have many). I did however have enough to get myself a free Ulta lipliner in Mocha (I love it already LOL). Prior to that I stopped by Sally's and picked up some new individual eyelashes (I prefer them over the ones with the band) and new Tweezerman tweezers for my brows.

Prior to all this collateral damage(LOL) I had to stop by Walgreens; and they had H.I.P. on BOGO. Usually I only buy H.I.P. on BOGO because at around $12.00 per item that is quite expensive for a drug store brand. If I am going to pay MAC prices I would rather go to MAC. I am also a Pro member so except when H.I.P. is on BOGO ,MAC is actually cheaper for me. The Ulta ad I had was actually from the week of Valentines day and they had H.I.P. on BOGO. This was the first time I had seen it on Bogo there and it carries the eye crayons because although Walgreens occasionally has it on BOGO they don't have the Crayons. Wal-Mart has everything but never BOGO. Unfortunately for me the ad was expired ;but I was glad to see it on BOGO at Walgreens. Since they came out a few months ago I have been wanting to try the new lipglosses with two colors Color Presso; but the $12.00 cost was a bit much for me but on BOGO that makes them $6.00 a piece(works for me). I got two colors Ritzy and Spunky. I also picked up two Cream Eyeliners because I like to wear the as a base underneath my shadows in Teal and Midnight Blue. Until we meet again..... Don't forget to follow me.

Hello everyone. I have been slacking over the weekend and I am just now posting looks I rocked this weekend (at all those damn movies lol). This look is called my Fireplace inspired look because I just ordered the Fireplace paint wheel from Bitch-Slap Cosmetics. However it has not arrived yet; but I have seen some amazing looks done with it by some of my myspace friends and decided to do a look using similar colors. When my paint wheel arrives I will do another blog and a review and see how the color vibrancy stacks up against other brands. Madea Goes To jail

Generally I am not a big movie goer. The whole scene usually turns me off. You pay $9.00 to listen to other people talk through the whole movie, while they have their dirty shoes on the head rest of the seat in front of them (eeewww), catch up on the latest ring tones and etc. On Friday the 20th I went to see Tyler Perry's Madea Goes To Jail. Ha- freaking larious! I was presently suprised because even though I loved the play the trailer for the movie I saw before his film The Family That Preys (also amazing) looked like the same old, same old. This movie is a must see it will have you in stitches, stomping your feet and holding your side because your ribs will hurt so much from laughing. The show down between Madea and Dr. Phil Mc Graw is not to be missed. Also appearing in the film Keisha Knight Pullihum (Rudy from the Cosby show), Judge Maybeline (of course) and Judge Greg Mathis (love him). I also, since I am a child of the 80's had to see Friday the 13th. I knew it would be bad, it was beyond bad. Do not waste your time at all viewing this film. Now being the Mac addict that I am, I had to see Confessions of a Shopaholic. LOL. To be quite honest initially I had no intentions of ever viewing this film. It looked from the trailer like The Devil Wears Prada which I found to be ridiculously overrated. But when I heard that Patricia Field the stylist for Sex and the City was the stylist for Isla Fischers character I was like sold. LOL. The fashion was wicked awesome but the movie not so much. I read a review that said it was on the typical , cheesy unrealistic side but that it was cute and sweet so I went. I would pass on it. I found the first part of the description to be true. I saw that Push was showing. I could not for the life of me remember where I had heard about it but today I remeber that it is the film where comedian Monique plays a female pedophile who violates her own daughter. It is her darkest role and it is suppose to be an Oscar buzz performance so I will definately be watching that on Tuesday. Until next time....

My Makeup Look

This is my first blog YAY!!!. Well second if you count myspace. I am a frequent youtuber. There is no picture on my youtube profile but I am hellojewels on youtube. I have been wanting to do videos on youtube. I will begin shortly. I am extremely computer illiterate so when I figure out how to do something I am like YAYYYYY. My blog will be about hair, makeup, nails, skin, shopping and all things girlie. I am a licensed cosmetologist so I will feature looks done on myself and models. I will take pictures of products used as well as list them. I do plan on having contests ASAP so please show love and follow me ladies. Smooches!!! So let's get into the look. On my eye lids I applied Plum Electric Cream Shadow base from Mac's Metal X collection. On top of that I applied the dark purple side of the Earthy Riches Mineralize shadow duo from MAC's Antiqitease collection. In the crease I used the grey side. On the brow brone I applied Restless loose powder pigment as my highlighter by H.I.P. Although it is not pictured I use MAC's Spiked brow pencil to fill in my brows. I applied Mac eyelashes in number #34. I lined the top lashline with Maybelline New York's waterproof liquid eyeliner in Grey. Also not pictured is my foundation in Chestnut (loves it), Mac concealer in NW40 and Black Opal deluxe finishing powder in Medium 03. I applied Mac Mineralize Skin Finisher in New Vegas from Alexander Mc Queen. I spray Mac Fix Plus to Mac the MSF show up even more. I lined my water line with the FAB ORCHID side of the fad orchid/dash lily pencil from Heatherette. For blush I used Benefits Honk if you're... and as a highlight on my cheeks I used Duwop's afterglow (not pictured sorry). On my lips I used Mac VIVA GLAM V lipstick, Dior lipgloss in Reflect 817 and I lined my lips with Black Opal lipliner in Timber 05. I apologize for listing the products in paragraph form you will have to excuse me this is my first blog. Next time I will just make a list like everyone else because this is alot to read through. All in all I think this makeup looks good for being on for thirteen hours. The pictures were taken at 9:00 p.m. I applied the makeup before work at 6:00 a.m. I would also like to say that Black Opal is one of my favorite brands. It is a cheaper brand and if you are a woman of color their foundations will look better on you than any other brand including MAC. I usually use Black Opal Cream to Powder foundation and I get so many compliments on how good my skin looks. Their eyeshadows are very pigmented and show up very well on African, Hispanic, Middle Eastern skin (without a base) because it is designed for women of color. They have several colors that are dead ringers for MAC colors. I am very suprised that on makeup blog sites and with all the women of color on youtube I have never seen anyone using it. If anyone has any questions or look requests please don't hesitate to message me please Follow Me and more coming soon. If you have a youtube channel or a myspace let me know the address and I will subscribe or request an add. Thank you for reading my blog.
